Canon C500 and Canon 1D C Go Hand-in-Hand for Shooting ‘Author: The JT LeRoy Story’

Cinematographer Richard Henkels shot new documentary Author: The JT LeRoy Story with a combination of Canon C500 and Canon 1D C. The Sundance film tells the story of Laura Albert, the Brooklyn mom who convinced the world she was a literary wunderkind 15 years her junior.

“The director, Jeff Feuerzeig, and I really like how Canon sensor records color and contrast!” Henkel tells Indiewire about choosing the cameras. “Both cameras match perfectly in look. It was extremely convenient to have the 1DC on hand when we weren’t all crewed up. It s a simple but powerful DSLR that records internally at 4K. This allowed us to do pick ups with out a full camera package.”
