It’s one thing to air a live musical like the uber-successful Grease: Live, but quite another to try and create a live episode of an animated series. But The Simpsons have some tricks up their sleeves to pull off the feat come May 15th.
A special episode of the show will feature three minutes of Homer Simpson, live, answering fans’ questions and commenting on the topical news of the day. The segment will be pulled off with motion capture technology used to animate Homer voice actor Dan Castalleneta who will be improvising Homer’s quips along with the help of some of the show’s staff writers.
“It looks great,” The Simpsons producer Al Jean told The Wrap about tests conducted on the motion capture technology. “I’m really confident that people will like it.”
