2014 to See Uptick in Multi-Format Transcoders

A new study from MRG shows that new compression technologies and an upswing in video streaming will impact the transcoder market in a postitive way in 2014.

Writes Michelle Clancy of Rapid TV News, "The rise of HD video streaming, 3D and, eventually, 4K UltraHD has presented significant challenges to operators looking to deliver video streams that are much more bandwidth-intensive than their existing infrastructures were built for. To maximize efficiency, new compression technologies are being developed, like HEVC compression, and these are poised for significant uptake."
