Thunder2 Quad

The Thunder2 Quad is a four-bay Thunderbolt 2 product with the capacity and throughput to support 4K video editing. The unit holds up to four drives, either 3.5” or 2.5” hard drives or solid-state drives. Capacity can reach 20 TB when using 3.5” drives; a transfer speed of 1.4 GB/s may be achieved when four SSDs are installed. Thunder2 Quad is sold both as an empty enclosure and with pre-installed drives (either hard drives or SSDs). As with all AKiTiO Thunderbolt products, the AKiTiO Thunder2 Quad comes with a Thunderbolt cable. Suggested retail price is $450.

Ninja Star

Launched at the 2014 NAB Show, the compact Ninja Star ($295) enables onboard Apple ProRes recording on camera rigs such as drones, RC helicopters and other UAVs, as well as on standard professional cameras. Ninja Star can record in both HD and ProRes, capturing 10-bit 4:2:2 images straight from any camera sensor. It features timecode and start/stop trigger along with audio line in. Dimensions are 3.7” x 0.9” x 2.3” (WDH). It weighs 4.5 oz. without battery and 8.5 oz. with the included battery and optional CFast media. The unit can record to CFast 1.0 or 2.0 cards.

TC-200 Title Creation Box

Datavideo’s TC-200 Title Creation Box allows the company’s CG-300/350 software to work with laptop computers. The TC-200 requires that the laptop has a true 1080 output via HDMI or via DisplayPort. The TC-200 uses HDMI or DisplayPort output to key graphics over video sources. Both the CG-300 and 350 software include basic text functions, but the CG-350 has additional features including banner crawls and Snyper corner graphics and animations. The TC-200 Title Creation Box includes CG-200 starter software. Datavideo offers live online interactive training for users to improve their CG skills.

The D810 features a 36.3-megapixel, full-frame FX-format (7360 x 4912 resolution) CMOS sensor without an optical low pass filter (OLPF) for exceptional resolution and dynamic range. The DSLR offers Full HD 1920 x 1080 video capture at a variety of frame rates, including 60/30/24p. Other features include FX and DX crop modes, a Flat Picture Control profile for flexibility in post, the ability to mount an external mic, and zebra stripes to visualize overexposed areas. The D810 can relay uncompressed digital video to an external recorder via HDMI while simultaneously displaying the video on the rear LCD display and external LCD monitor. Operators may also record both to the internal card (compressed) and to the external recorder (uncompressed) simultaneously. Suggested retail price is $3,300.

With a 3MOS/BSI sensor and a 12x zoom lens with three independent adjustable rings for zoom, focus and iris, the AG-AC90A AVCCAM HD handheld camcorder offers two SD memory card slots, a five-axis image stabilizer, 4x pixel shifting technology, and an intelligent Auto (iA) Zoom 25x function for automatic adjustments of edge, gradation and detail. The successor to Panasonic's AG-AC90, the AG-AC90A features two new recording options: a PM mode (1280 x 720, 8 Mb/s) supporting sports analysis applications and a CS mode (720 x 480, 3.5 Mb/s) for cloud service utilization.

DP7-PRO On-Camera Color Grading System

This color grading toolset is part of a free firmware update for SmallHD’s DP7-PRO on-camera field monitor. It enables users to dial in quick color grades, providing clients and crew with a clear view of what the finished product will look like. The toolset supports 3D LUTs. SmallHD’s 7 inch DP7-PRO monitor is available in LCD, OLED and high-brightness versions. Each DP7-PRO monitor provides HDMI and SDI inputs as well as HDMI and SDI ports that can output graded video for viewing on the client monitor or routing to an external recorder.
