Taylor Swift '1989' Tour Captured in 4K on Shogun Studio

Publish date:

Outside broadcast facilitator Gearhouse Broadcast was commissioned by Taylor Swift and Apple Music to create a sophisticated 4K live production. The Sydney, Australia, stop on Taylor Swift’s 1989 world tour was shot with a range of cameras including the Sony F55, Vision Research Phantom 4K Flex and ARRI Alexa. There were 35 streams in total. HD streams were sent to EVS devices; 4K video was shot by Sony F55 cameras from 18 locations and recorded externally in 4K/30p to 18 Atomos Shogun Studio devices in ProRes HQ. The production also used four Technocranes, Libra hot heads, Steadicam and Canon Cinema Zoom lenses.

The Shogun Studio units helped the Gearhouse team meet the challenges of this multifaceted live 4K production. All streams were recorded directly to SSDs. At the conclusion of the show, media was verified, boxed up and sent to the UK for editing. With the great success of this Taylor Swift project, Gearhouse has implemented Shogun Studio as its capture medium for 4K productions moving forward.
