In the below video interview, cinematographer Seamus McGarvey (Atonement, The Avengers, We Need to Talk About Kevin) talks about his career and his shooting philosophies, including delving into the art of his craft.

"I would urge any cinematographer not to slaver over technology," says McGarvey, "When people labor over pixels and how many Ks a particular camera has, I think you get lost on a one-way track to oblivion. Much more important are the things that never change which is light, character, the're trying to portray."
