Live Production and Video Streaming
Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2 p.m. - 5 p.m., Room 209B

2 p.m. Video Streaming Technology for Mobile Applications
One of the biggest challenges today is providing multimedia information to mobile users. Many organizations need to deliver mission-critical information to employees in the form of video, audio and media; it must be delivered live, in real time, and recorded for on-demand viewing. This session will explore the latest video streaming and compression standards and delivery methods, with a focus on delivering live video and media to mobile devices. Key topics cover will include video encoders, video content delivery networks, video transcoding, delivering live video inside and outside the firewall simultaneously, and how to get high quality live video to iPads, iPhones, Androids, PCs and Macs.
Speaker: Rich Mavrogeanes, President, Discover Video

3 p.m. How to Stream Full-Motion Video to Mobile Devices Using Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) Technologies
Video over IP to mobile devices is enabling government and military organizations to deliver mission-critical, low-latency HD streaming anywhere, anytime. Full-motion video (FMV) deployments range from command and control support, logistics missions, and intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities for both intelligence analysts around the world and active personnel on the ground. To date, many of the portable systems capable of viewing these feeds have been custom-built and tied to specific data links. But today, federal departments such as the DoD are increasingly turning to commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies to lower the risks associated with system integration and to accelerate the delivery of mobile-based solutions.
Speaker: Andy Vaughan, Vice President of U.S. Federal Sales, Haivision

4 p.m. Cellular ENG Solutions: How This New Technology is Changing Live Production
Cellular ENG solutions have become a key tool in newsrooms around the world, covering major news events including the U.S. Presidential Election, 2011 British Royal Wedding and Hurricane Irene. Sports productions are also relying on this highly portable technology, including high-level events such as the Super Bowl and the London 2012 Olympics. This is due to better video quality, improved bonding techniques, increased resiliency, stronger cellular coverage and the flexibility and portability it offers for ENG. New mobile solutions are now becoming available to news crews, allowing smart phones, laptops and handheld devices to complement professional-grade backpacks for live newsgathering. These solutions, which serve different applications and workflows, such as live transmission, editing, file transfer, and store and forward, reflect the changing way video is being acquired in the field—from reporters and producers on news teams to camera operators on location.
Speaker: Mike Savello, Vice President of Sales, LiveU
