Challenges with Supporting DASH and Adaptive Streaming Video
Presented by Philip Hippensteel, IP Communications Technology Consultant
Thursday, December 5th at 2 PM
Now that a standard for MPEG DASH video has been published, we expect the industry to implement products using the standard. Some have appeared already. Pulling together characteristics of Flash, HLS and Silverlight was significant. But once implemented, how will adaptive streams behave? How will we troubleshoot them? What techniques will improve their performance from the user’s perspective?
This session will demonstrate that these issues are very different from those of conventional IPTV. Research into these issues has been extensive but have produced results that are complex and difficult to understand. Reference will be made to the progress we’ve made on answering these questions and products that may help maintain and troubleshoot adaptive streaming flows.
GV Expo 2013 is taking place on December 3rd-5th at Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, DC. Register here.
