Big action flick John Carter is on the cutting-edge of technology with its mix of live action and CGI, and its scale of immersive 3D. But it's also shot on 35mm anamorphic film and is a story that's over 80 years in the making -- with the first attempt to bring it to the big screen dating as far back as 1931. Says cinematographer Dan Mindel, "John Carter was an amazingly technological undertaking. We tried very hard to keep the Luddite attitude out, while keeping a handmade feeling in."
