There is a cinematic renaissance brewing. Dolby Cinemas will take the visual and audio experience to a different level, Barco's Escape offers a surround screen experience, and soon movie seats will vibrate along with the action on the screen. These are the types of innovations that movie theaters are depending on to help lure people away from their home entertainment systems and back to the big screen.

"Imax has shown that people are willing to pay a premium price for a big-screen experience, and now others are following along," Eric Handler, a media analyst with MKM Partners, tells the L.A. Times.

Blackmagic Design announced today that Blackmagic’s DeckLink SDI Micro was used for capture and playback with the pitching tracking system “Baseboy,” a newly announced system by Qoncept Inc. capable of visualizing a ball’s path and interlocking with a camera feed. Baseboy was first used, in conjunction with a Blackmagic Micro Studio Camera 4K, in the recent Japan/US international baseball match, Samurai Japan Series 2019, broadcast by TV Asahi as Japan’s first real time baseboy analysis system.
