Nasty Baby director Sebastian Silva talks to Fandor about his genre-defying new film, which mixes elements of a comedy, drama and--ultimately--a thriller.

"I feel the way we live our lives is multi-genre," Silva says. "You can be having the best time with your friend and then you get back home, your partner is in a bad mood, drama ensues, he leaves, you cry and it’s even more dramatic… But then you get high, watch a movie, start laughing… Life is such a mix of genres and they change all the time! For me it’s weird that we have gotten used to genre films at all. You have drama and it’s pure drama, when it’s a comedy you’re only up for some laughter."
