For The Fosters, the ABC Family drama about a multi-ethnic family of foster and biological kids, cinematographer Kees Van Oostrum, ASC, and gaffer William Russell are using several Litepanels fixtures, including the new ASTRA 1x1 Bi-Color.

“LED lighting gives me the opportunity to work fast, and it’s very easy to control the light,” Van Oostrum explains. “With the ASTRA, I graduated into a much better light that I will be able to use in many areas where I couldn’t use an LED before. It goes up quickly, it’s easy to rig and adjust, and it can dim. I love that it can be battery powered, so it’s totally independent from regular power sources, and that there’s a readout on the back, so you know exactly what you’re doing, color-wise and intensity-wise.”
