Keanu Reeves' Work on 'Side by Side' Informs His Directorial Debut

Producing the documentary Side by Side, which centers on the debate of celluloid vs. digital, and interviewing a slew of top industry folk has informed Keanu Reeves in more ways than one. Stepping into the role of director for the first time on Man of Tai Chi, and shooting digitally, Reeves felt like he was able to use a lot of the information that he gleaned from his documentary.

He says, "If I had not been part of this documentary, going into making a film in a digital way, the conversations with me [on Man of Tai Chi] would have been another 50 percent of me asking people to explain things again. Making the documentary really helped."
