'In Jackson Heights' Director Frederick Wiseman on Excavating His POV in the Edit Suite

Last month director Frederick Wiseman screened his latest documentary, his 40th, In Jackson Heights in the very community that he filmed it in. In a follow-up Q&A, Wiseman discussed how his point-of-view comes across during the editing process.

As Indiewire's Wil Barlow reports, "[Wiseman] pointed out that in the editing process, in which hundreds of hours of footage must be condensed into one three hour film, everything is the result of a choice on the part of the filmmaker. On a shot to shot level and on a structural level the film is constructed based on the his own ideas."
