Shot on Cinemascope 35mm film, and filled with a lot of highly choreographed long takes, Damien Chazelle's musical La La Land required meticulous and passionate planning from its crew--especially as a lot of the film's saturated look was captured on location and in camera.
“It was a little daunting at first,” cinematographer Linus Sandgren tells ICG Magazine. “But Damien has a passion for in-camera capture, and he prepares so meticulously – we carefully boarded the entire film in prep and made detailed camera-movement diagrams for each shot. His passion just carried us along to create something very special.”
