Portuguese director Miguel Gomes discusses his three-part Arabian Nights in conversation with the Film Society of Lincoln Center.
"What was amazing about that book [The Arabian Nights] was that it was like endless possibilities of fiction," Gomes says about his inspiration for the film. "In a story you have another story and inside that story you have more stories coming. It was incredible. It gave me vertigo....what I bring to the screen is not the tales that appear in the book, but the sensation I had while I was reading that book."
