Editor Joel Cox speaks to The Hollywood Reporter about the intense opening sequence of Clint Eastwood's American Sniper, in which Navy SEAL Chris Kyle (Bradley Cooper) sees a mother hand a grenade to her 10-year-old son...and must decide whether to shoot him.

"To open a film like this — you are right on the edge of your seat from the beginning. The audience hasn't had a chance to settle in," Cox explains.
