Julian Rosefeldt's Manifesto is a 13-screen video art installation featuring Cate Blanchett utilizing her unparalleled gifts for embodying a variety of characters. Blanchett plays 13 different roles, each reading out from over 50 different art and political manifestos.

"There’s this common youthful rage they all express,” Rosefeldt tells Vogue about the manifestos he chose to use, which included works from the likes of André Breton, Lars Von Trier, and Karl Marx. “I feel all this beautiful insecurity in these texts, in this anger.”

“Sometimes within the text collage, there’s contradictory thoughts,” he continues. “It creates this kind of chemistry that asks you as a viewer to add up your own thoughts and take possession. You have that possibility in each of the scenes, where you’re really asked to position yourself. But also in the entire installation, where you have to find your position within this architecture of thought.”

Manifesto is playing through January 8th at New York's Park Avenue Armory. Read the full story here.
