VERNON HILLS, ILL.—Thanks to the evolution of virtual reality technology in the last few years that have led to sleeker, more affordable headsets from companies like HTC and Samsung, federal agencies are finding new uses for the technology. In particular, the Federal Emergency Management Agency is using VR to provide decision-making training sessions for disaster scenarios, while the VA has been using it to help treat patients with PTSD.
