U2, NASA Celebrate Collaboration

New video highlights ISS astronauts’ contributions to U2’s 360 Degree world tour

The National Aeronautics and Space Administration and Irish rock band U2 have released a commemorative video highlight a year-long collaboration with U2’s 360 Degree world tour.

In 2009, U2 approached the space agency about including a on-stage dialogue between the band and the International Space Station. A video segment featuring astronauts of ISS Expedition 20 was eventually recorded and incorporated into 360 Degree concert dates.

“Working with U2 is atypical for NASA,” said Bill Gerstenmaier, NASA associate administrator for Space Operations. “By combining their world tour with the space station’s out-of-this-world mission, more people—and different people than our normal target audiences—learned about the International Space Station and the important work we are doing in orbit.” created a video documenting the collaboration between the band and the space agency.
