TV and Film Students Monitor Programming With Marshall

Monitor clarity improves the quality of their content for SE Missouri State students

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Southeast Missouri State University’s Department of Mass Media offers its students a hands-on approach to producing news and informational programming. The school uses a two-hour block of time each morning on the local CW affiliate (part of the CBS station) and a 30-minute block on a weekly basis for the local Fox affiliate. The university also produces and streams live from 100 Ohio Valley Conference sporting events including multicamera programs for football, soccer, volleyball, gymnastics, basketball, softball and baseball.

Dr. Jim Dufek, the department’s operations manager and production director, works with Department Engineer Tom White to identify equipment needs. To improve the quality of the department’s programming content, an array of monitors from Marshall Electronics were added to the workflow to improve the students’ ability to clearly and accurately monitor both its in-studio and on-location news segments.
