MINNEAPOLIS—The 2018 NAB Show will be the starting line for Tightrope Media Systems latest update to its Cablecast Community Media platform. Now on v6.4, the update was designed to improve accessibility for hearing-impaired viewers while enabling customers to complement their streamed videos with supporting documents.
The expanded closed caption capabilities in v6.4 improve web and mobile video accessibility for the hearing-impaired. Similar support has been provided for live streams and VOD programming, like displaying a more flexible array of information, as well as greater control on how such material is presented. Documents such as agendas and minutes can be displayed next to the video and can be downloaded by viewers. In addition, new database fields allow for the display of custom metadata, while standard fields can now be hidden from viewers.
The platform’s software now also has a Live Captioning feature that offer workflow improvements. VOD chapter markers that let viewers jump directly to a specific section in VOD clips can be added in real time while live video recording is in progress.
The Cablecast 6.4 upgrade will be available in April and will be free for Cablecast Flex customers on active support agreements. Tightrope will showcase the upgrade at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort (Westgate Director B) during the 2018 NAB Show.
