SALT LAKE CITY–Texas PBS affiliate KEDT-TV has done away with their old automation system and now uses NVerzion’s Component Level Automation System Solutions (CLASS) platform for station tasks like recording, playback and non-real-time delivery.
“When our previous automation system reached its end-of-life, it was important to find a flexible and future-proof solution to continue offering our viewers a window to the world and local community,” said Bob Scott, director of engineering and operations at KEDT.
NVerzion CLASS supports KEDT-TV’s main HD channel and an SD subchannel. CLASS allows KEDT to keep much of its existing third party equipment in operation, such as their Harmonic Spectrum ChannelPort video server, Utah Scientific UTAH-400 Series router and Myers ProTrack traffic system. As a PBS affiliate that airs programs produced outside of the station, CLASS simplifies KEDT’s workflow by automatically transferring new programs on the PBS NRT distribution system to the station’s server.
CLASS comprises a mix of hardware and software components and allows for additional channels to be supported if needed. KEDT-TV says they are growing and expect to add a channel for nearby Delmar College in the near future.
