Seminole Productions Upgrades System Storage

Seminole Productions at Florida State Univ. updates its storage systems.

Seminole Productions Control Room

Seminole Productions, an auxiliary organization of Florida State University, has expanded its content and workflow storage to include an additional 96 TB of shared space with integrated media asset management, backup and archiving. EditShare supplied the components for the upgrade.

Located in the FSU athletics department, Seminole oversees a space of more than 6,000 square feet that includes two control rooms, a large studio with both green screen and conventional studio setup, and 19 Avid Media Composer 7 suites for use by students and staff. It also operates a centralized control room that is connected via fiber to the university’s nearby football, baseball and basketball facilities, as well as other athletic fields and stadiums.

The Seminole production team, which is staffed with a mix of full-time video professionals/instructors and university students, is tasked with covering FSU live events, as well as producing the university’s pre- and post-game shows. The team is responsible for producing approximately 130 athletic television programs yearly, on a variety of sports.

“EditShare shared storage meant that our editors could access all the material they needed for their particular programs much faster,” said Jim Garbarino, associate director of Seminole Productions. He commented on the benefits of ingesting just once, then making content available to all authorized users on the EditShare network, as well as on EditShare’s project-sharing capabilities.
