Prairie View A&M Classrooms Add New A/V Gear From Tekvox

44 classrooms received the upgraded technology

AUSTIN, TEXAS—Prairie View A&M recently sought to boost the classroom environment for its 8,000 enrolled students by installing Tekvox equipment to classrooms on its main campus and the School of Nursing in the Houston Medical Center.

The goal was to create a standardization of academic technology for classrooms that are used by faculty with various levels of technical expertise. Tekvox’s Drop-In A/V 81000, a pre-programmed A/V system, was in use at Lone Star College, which served as a research opportunity for Prairie View A&M’s Executive Director for Academic Technology Demitris Cambric.

After researching the Tekvox technology, Cambric launched pilot installations in four classrooms. After a successful test run, Prairie View A&M would install the Drop-In A/V 81000 units in 40 additional classrooms. Each unit was customized to fit the specific needs of the room it was installed in, per Cambric.

According to Tekvox, Prairie View A&M has plans to adopt TekEnterprise, a software companion to the Tekvox solution that supports equipment error resolution and asset management with real-time status reports, maintenance automation and inventory management.
