MONTGOMERY, ALA.—For passengers making their way through Birmingham Airport, they’ll be provided some information with the assistance of PlayBox Technology. The company recently completed a playout system at the airport to work with a local TV broadcaster that won the contract to provide regional, national and worldwide video and audio content, with text overlays, at the airport.
The playout system consists of PlayBox’s AirBox Neo and TitleBox Neo systems. The audio and video is combined into an IP stream through the AirBox Neo server and then forwarded through an optical fiber from the playout studios to the airport. The stream is then decoded to HDMI and fed to monitors located throughout the airport terminals. The AirBox system streams up to 10 hours of news and file-based content daily. In addition, it is capable of importing a traffic log to insert specifically targeted commercials into the playlist.
The TitleBox Neo system offers a range of interactive on-air graphics and titling capabilities that can be manipulated live. Features include horizontal crawling text, vertically rolling credits and messages, still and animated logo graphics, analog and digital clocks, banner slideshows and chat text with automated horizontal and vertical scrolling.
