STATE COLLEGE, PA– Penn State University’s PBS affiliate, WPSU, has installed a Calrec Audio Summa digital mixing console in its facility, the latest upgrade in the station’s modernization plans.

The Summa console serves as WPSU’s core mixer for its live production lineup, which is linked into the network’s five studio spaces.

In addition to its general PBS and locally produced programming, WPSU is also used as a valuable resource for Penn State’s broadcast students, allowing them to work alongside professionals in a live broadcast environment.

WPSU Facilities Manager Kerry Trout says it’s the Summa’s flexibility and sound quality that made the console suitable for its operations. “The Summa is extremely intuitive and easy to use, which will give students a powerful tool for learning signal flow, processing, and audio design.” he said.

The Calrec Summa digital mixing console went live in May and, come this September, Penn State students will begin learning the Summa’s capabilities.
