Using its new Mica integrated production switcher with the BPNet Rapid CG software, Metro Nashville Network upgraded the graphics for its election coverage.
NASHVILLE, TN–Viewers of Metro Nashville Network’s live election night coverage might have noticed a unique change to the graphics layout. For the very first time the PEG operator provided real-time animated graphic results thanks to Broadcast Pix’s BPNet Rapid CG software and a new Mica integrated production switcher.
“We were really able to make it look very professional compared to what we’ve done in the last five years,” Chris Singleton, MNN’s division manager.
MNN’s election coverage is unlike other stations that offer live commentary and field reports. Coverage only presents the results given out by the local election commission. When the commission received an update, a file was provided to the city’s Information Technology Services Department who then went and uploaded the information to the Rapid CG software.
MNN ran the results for more than 10 hours in a loop starting at 8:45 PM and got lots of positive feedback, according to Singleton.
The Rapid CG is a cloud-based workflow tools that is compatible with all Broadcast Pix switchers. The tool utilizes a drag-and-drop function and links databases, RSS feeds, scorekeeping, and other information into templates for customized graphics.
Metro Nashville Network is one of four PEG channels in the Nashville area. It primarily supports the gavel-to-gavel demands of Nashville’s and Davidson County’s government meetings, but also produces PSA, training videos and event coverage.
