NDDOT Uses VR to Teach Seat Belt Safety

As cars hit the road this summer, the North Dakota Department of Transportation is hoping a new virtual reality video can help teach people the importance of wearing their seat belts.

BISMARCK, N.D.—As cars hit the road this summer, the North Dakota Department of Transportation is hoping a new virtual reality video can help teach people the importance of wearing their seat belts. The 360-degree video shows what it is like to not wear a seat belt during a car crash.

“The over-arching goal of using this video is to again emphasize the importance of wearing your seat belt,” said Ashlee Doan, NDDOT safety public information specialist told KFYR-TV. “It’s the one thing you can control and it’s your best defensive in a motor vehicle crash.”
