NABEF Names 2017 Freedom of Speech PSA Contest Winners

It’s Free Speech Week and the NAB Education and the Broadcast Education Association is encouraging television and radio stations to broadcast the winning PSAs from the Freedom of Speech Public Service Announcement Contest.

WASHINGTON—It’s Free Speech Week and the NAB Education and the Broadcast Education Association is encouraging television and radio stations to broadcast the winning PSAs from the Freedom of Speech Public Service Announcement Contest.

College communications students submitted 30-second spots that address “What freedom of speech means to them.” Tracy Egbas from the University of Southern California won the TV category for “No Puppet Strings,” and Ali Akbari of the University of Central Florida won the radio category for “Know the Consequences.” Each student received a $2,500 scholarship as a reward.

The winning PSAs can be viewed here and downloaded from www.nabspotcenter.org.

Freedom of Speech week continues through Oct. 22.
