VR Helping to Train California Firefighter Recruits

Able to provide realistic training scenarios for things like wildfires.

Looking to boost the training of its Fire Academy Recruits, Cosumnes Fire Department in California is working with RiVR and Pico Interactive VR to provide realistic training scenarios.

Using VR headsets, the fire department is able to give its recruits visual experience of what it is like to deal with a number of different circumstances, like how a fire develops, its rapid changes, smoke and fire conditions that can lead to flashover, as well as provide immersive scenarios that displays how serious injury or death could occur.

The program was implemented at Cosumnes’ Fire Academy in October and has reportedly been used by more than 20 recruits.
