Datacasting Put to Use by Broadcasters for Public Safety Needs

One of the key responsibilities for public broadcasters is to inform its viewers on a range of public safety issues. Datacasting is an emerging tool for broadcasters to do so, and a recent post from Mission Critical Communications details how new developments are helping to expand datacasting’s capabilities.

Datacasting is being put to use by a number of stations to help alert stations and their viewers about natural disasters, active shooter incidents and more. A number of pilot projects are experimenting with just how this technology can best be utilized, including how the ATSC 3.0 standard can benefit it.
