Government Video’s Website of the Week: TVW

This week we are re-launching our “Government Video Website of the Week” feature, focusing on online resources of interest to our readers.

The home page of TVW’s website.

This week’s website of the week is, the home to TVW, Washington state’s public affairs network.

TVW offers unfiltered and comprehensive access to the state’s legislative activities in a number of ways, particularly on their website. Along with their gavel-to-gavel coverage of the state legislature, visitors also have access to state Supreme Court proceedings, state agency, boards and commission hearings and coverage of elections and non-governmental public policy events like state party conventions. All of this can be seen live through its cable channel as well.

TVW’s website is aesthetically pleasing, easy to use and continuously updated. Visitors can watch four separate, 720p live video streams—with archives dating back to 1997—as well as current and past episodes of TVW’s six political and educational series and current documentaries on state issues. The site also features a news blog, education blog about the state’s constitution and laws, crucial resources on elections, and video profiles of all candidates running for state office.

Supporting all of this video production is TVW’s four control room studio in Olympia, Wash., blocks away from the state’s capitol. Check out TVW’s website here.
