The home page of Tennessee’s General Assembly website.
This week’s featured website of the week is the State of Tennessee’s General Assembly website, the go-to portal for all of the activities happening at the state’s legislature. The site provides live and on-demand video of meetings, bill information and tracking, and information about committees and legislators.
The video aspect of the site is professionally done. The on-demand section features a simple directory of a year’s worth of meetings undertaken by the legislature’s senate and house. The video window itself features clear and concise video and audio with a tool bar below it to let the viewer know what part of the meeting is going on or what bill is being debated.
Like many other state house websites, this place is particularly useful for citizens seeking a database of open records on proposed laws and how they did or didn’t become law. The legislator directory even shows what bills a particular senator or representative has sponsored. Overall, the site is very aesthetically pleasing when compared to other state house websites.
