The “Hero at Home Video Contest” is the Pentagon Federal Credit Union Foundation’s effort to honor the caregiver of a wounded service member or veteran by presenting him or her with the “Hero at Home” award. The public will help choose the winner from videos featuring the work of caregivers posted on YouTube, says the foundation, which is a nonprofit organization working to meet the needs of military personnel and their families.
To enter, contestants must upload on YouTube a one- to two-minute video about a “hero at home” who went above and beyond to care for an injured service member or veteran, then complete the entry form. Entries will be accepted until April 12, 2012, and five finalists will be announced on April 16. Then through April 22, the public will have the opportunity to help choose the winner by “liking” their favorite video. The finalist with the most “likes” will win. An official announcement will be made on April 23.
The caregiver selected as the “Hero at Home” will receive an all-expense-paid trip to Washington to receive the award at the foundation’s Annual Night of Heroes Gala on May 24, 2012.
For focusing attention on the caregivers of wounded service members, the Hero at Home Video Contest is Government Video’s Website of the Week.
