The U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Research and Innovative Technology Administration (RITA) is sponsoring its Intelligent Transportation Systems Video Challenge which is seeking videos that show how intelligent transportation systems (ITS) are making transportation better at the local level.
RITA wants you “to grab your camera” and create a video demonstrating the benefits of ITS technology in your town. Videos should focus on an example of ITS deployment in the field. The ITS technology can be for any type of surface transportation including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit, auto, and freight.
Once the video is complete, upload it to YouTube and send via e-mail the URL link for the video to the DOT at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please list “ITS Video Challenge” as the e-mail’s subject line. Within the same e-mail, provide the name and affiliation of each team member and the office or school (non-personal) e-mail address of the team member who will serve as the main point of contact. The deadline to upload a video is June 30, 2011.
The best overall video will be honored at the 2011 ITS World Congress in Orlando, Fla. which takes place on Oct. 16-20, 2011. Authorized travel expenses will be paid for up to four members of the winning team to attend the conference in its entirety. In addition, your video entry may be recognized by the DOT through the secretary of transportation’s blog “Fast Lane”, on the RITA website, or shown on the DOT’s YouTube channel.
For sponsoring a video contest, RITA’s Intelligent Transportation Systems Video Challenge is Government Video’s Website of the Week.
