There is a lot of great video out there being made by government operations, at all levels of government. One of the most common interactions citizens have with government is with police ― whether it’s simply asking directions or reporting crime, understanding what police do is critical to the relationship between protectors and the protected.
The web channel we’re saluting for the week of Sept. 6, 2013, is the Kentucky State Police YouTube channel. The KSP has produced interesting and informative videos that explain what the police do and why they do it. Spanning operations from issuing drivers’ licenses to accident investigation to marijuana eradication, these videos help the public understand police work from behind the scenes, and why it’s important to public safety in Kentucky. Okay, the videos are a little stiff in spots ― these aren’t Hollywood actors, they’re real Kentucky State Police. However, their sincerity shines through and the connection with viewers is genuine.
