General Dynamics Providing DoD Image Production

Support includes hyper-spectral and multi-spectral imagery production and analysis.

The U.S. Air Force’s National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) has tapped General Dynamics (GD) to provide airborne geospatial intelligence support including hyper-spectral and multi-spectral imagery production and analysis.

The selection of GD to provide battle space awareness support is through the company’s “advanced information systems” that is part of a $4.7 million five-year, “advanced technical exploitation program” contract awarded in 2009, the company says.

Under the task order, GD is to directly support overseas operations and missile defense by providing imagery production, as well as data processing and analysis, analytic support, publishing and distribution and training, the firm says.

GD provides “a proven track record of providing analysis of hyperspectral and multispectral imagery by subject matter experts with deep mission knowledge,” said Lou Von Thaer, president of GD’s advanced information systems. “The breadth of our team’s experience in geospatial, advanced sensor and exploitation technologies uniquely positions us to deliver support to NASIC’s mission, a role we have played since 2001,” Von Thaer added.

The NASIC is the lead agency for the processing, exploitation, analysis, integration and dissemination of measurement and signature intelligence data collected from radar, electro-optical and infrared technical sensors.
