Ferris State University Trains Students on Broadcast Pix Gear

Ferris State University students are getting hands-on experience of what it’s like to produce sports and other broadcasts with professional equipment via installation of gear from Broadcast Pix.

CHELMSFORD, MASS.—Ferris State University students are getting hands-on experience of what it’s like to produce sports and other broadcasts with professional equipment via installation of gear from Broadcast Pix. The university’s School of Digital Media features a Broadcast Pix Mica 1000 integrated production switcher in its remote production trailers and a Granite 5000 in its control room.

This gear is used to help the students produce coverage of Ferris State’s hockey team, which is live streamed by the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, as well as for the football team, with those streaming to the university’s website. On the production trailer, the Mica is used to produce graphics. Broadcast Pix also offers optional Rapid CG software to integrate the production switcher with scoreboards.

The students also utilize the equipment to produce programs in studio that air on local TV stations in the Big Rapids, Mich., area.
