Extron Unveils Three-Input HDCP-Compliant Scaler

Intended for ‘basic applications’ or ‘complex systems’

Extron Electronics introduces the DSC 301 HD, a compact high-bandwidth digital content protection-compliant video scaler.
The DSC 301 has a high-definition multimedia interface input, configurable high-resolution analog and composite video inputs, as well as an HDMI output, Extron says. It utilizes what Extron describes as “an advanced scaling engine with 30-bit processing and 1080i deinterlacing,” the DSC 301 HD delivers output resolutions up to 1920×1200, including 1080p and 2K, the firm says.
The unit contains extended display identification data minder, automatic input switching and audio embedding from one of the three stereo inputs onto the HDMI output, according to Extron. It also is half-rack is mountable and has both a compact and low profile width enclosure to enable simple installation.
For HDMI signals with protected content, its Key Minder authenticates and maintains continuous HDCP encryption to ensure quick and reliable switching, Extron says. When receiving an encrypted input source signal, the DSC 301 HD provides visual confirmation when protected content cannot be viewed. Front panel controls, intuitive on-screen display and USB and RS-232 connections also enable flexible control and monitoring capability, the company says.
The DSC 301 HD scaler is intended for both “basic applications” and “more complex systems,” said Casey Hall, Extron’s vice president of sales and marketing.
