Crestron Debuts HDMI and VGA Scalers

For presentations and conferencing

ROCKLEIGH, N.J. — Crestron recently announced the introduction of two high-definition scalers. The Crestron HD-SCALER-HD-E (HDMI-in/HDMI-out) and HD-SCALER-VGA-E(VGA-in/HDMI-out) provide streamlined, application-specific HD scaling solutions. They deliver all the features and controls needed to display all AV sources correctly and affordably. Both automatically scale any input signal to match the native resolution of a display or other HDMI device.

“Many applications require only one input type – either VGA or HDMI. The HD-SCALER-HD-E and HD-SCALER-VGA-E are each designed for a specific application, so you’re only paying for the inputs you need,” said Justin Kennington, technology manager, Crestron DigitalMedia. “You simply get the right product for the job, and the best possible image every time.”


The HD-SCALER-HD-E provides a single HDMI input and output, plus audio embedding and de-embedding. It enables you to display otherwise incompatible HDMI signals on HDMI displays, and upscale standard definition video to HD. For example, video conferencing codecs are notoriously finicky about accepting input signals. The HD-SCALER-HD-E solves the video conference codec input problem with a low cost, low power consumption, and compact device. It also includes analog audio input, and the ability to output analog audio and HDMI at the same time.


The HD-SCALER-VGA-E is a simple, cost-effective video scaler designed to enable an HD, SD, or computer display device to handle analog VGA, RGB, and component video signals with input resolutions up to Full HD 1080p or WUXGA. The HD-SCALER-VGA-E connects to an HDMI or DVI input, enabling support for a variety of analog signals, and ensuring that every source displays reliably and beautifully. Fully automatic operation is achieved using the display’s EDID — just connect the HD-SCALER-VGA-E to the display and it intelligently converts and enhances the incoming signal for optimal appearance on the display.
