Comcast Required to Continue Support for Public TV in Vermont

Comcast’s motion to lift some requirements on its certificate of public good has been denied by the Vermont Public Utility Commission, requiring that Comcast continue to support the state’s public access television.

BENNINGTON, VT.—Comcast’s motion to lift some requirements on its certificate of public good has been denied by the Vermont Public Utility Commission, requiring that Comcast continue to support the state’s public access television. Comcast must now build 550 miles of new cable lines to remote locations in Vermont over the next 11 years to ensure that local shows can be found within its program guide.
