Bohemian Grey Inc, a producer of animation, visualization and visual effects for film, television, educational and government projects, has created a short animated film depicting the planned exploits of NASA’s newest robotic Mars explorer.
NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory is planning to launch the Mars Science Laboratory’s “Curiosity” Rover in November 2011, and the animation produced by Bohemian Grey depicts aspects of that upcoming mission, the company says.
There is both a four-minute narrated version of the film and an 11-minute version without narration, and both are currently available for viewing by the public, the firm says. In the narrated version, viewers can take a behind the scenes look at the assembly of the craft, which features scientific advancements never before included within such an inter-planetary vehicle.
In addition, the 11-minute version depicts “Curiosity’s” flight path, landing and planned exploratory activities, once on the surface of Mars.
Bohemian Grey is “tremendously excited to be a part of this historic event,” said Kevin Lane, the company’s president. “Helping NASA and the public to visualize ‘Curiosity’s’ trek was the type of animation project our company truly excels in both conceptualizing and producing,” he said.
