Axis Introduces High Frame Rate Fixed Network Cameras

Axis Q1614 and Axis Q1614-E feature both WDR-Dynamic Capture and Lightfinder

CHELMSFORD, MASS. —Axis Communications, a manufacturer of video surveillance equipment, today announced Axis Q1614 and Axis Q1614-E Network Cameras intended to identify people and objects in high movement scenes and demanding lighting conditions.

The indoor Axis Q1614 and outdoor-ready Axis Q1614-E can capture quick movements in HDTV 720p by recording up to 60 frames per second, which is twice the usual frame rate as conventional cameras.

Axis Q1614/-E Network Cameras also feature Axis’ Wide Dynamic Range – Dynamic Capture technology to handle environments with extensive lighting contrasts.

Additionally, Axis Q1614/-E cameras feature Axis’ Lightfinder technology to allow for color video detail in extreme low-light conditions. In contrast to conventional day and night cameras that switch to black and white in darkness, cameras incorporating Axis’ Lightfinder technology maintain color even in very dark conditions.

With the launch of Axis Q1614/-E Fixed Network Cameras, the company debuts installation features to cut down on time needed for installation and to ensure optimal performance. With the new leveling assistance, a buzzer and flashing light guide the installer to mount the camera at the correct horizontal level.

Axis Q1614/-E are also Axis’ first cameras with adjustable high-sensitivity shock detection, a function that enables the camera to automatically send an alarm to a control room if it is hit.

The indoor Axis Q1614 and outdoor-ready Axis Q1614-E fixed network cameras will be available in Q4 2013 through Axis’ distribution channels.

Both indoor and outdoor versions of the camera are supported by Axis Camera Station as well as video management software through Axis’ Application Development Partner Program. Axis Q16 Series also supports Axis Camera Companion for edge-based recording of small camera systems, Axis Camera Application Platform for software developers to create intelligent apps that run inside the camera, Axis Video Hosting System for connection to hosted video systems and the ONVIF standard for system integration.
