Alliance for Community Media Names Keri Stokstad as Board Chair

Stokstad was awarded the ACM’s Sue Buske Leadership Award in 2011

Keri Stokstad, executive director of the Pasadena Community Access Corp. (Pasadena Media), has been named as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Community Media and the Foundation of the Alliance for Community Media.
Founded in 1979, the ACM is a national, non-profit membership organization committed to ensuring access to electronic media for all people, the alliance says. Stokstad, who has been Pasadena Media’s executive director since January 2012, will lead the ACM in its mission to educate, advocate and act as a resource for the more than 3,000 public, education and government cable channels nationwide, the organization says.
“I am honored by the opportunity to lead this prestigious organization,” Stokstad said. “I look forward to further engaging community media centers to provide critical services as we continue to make the ACM the premier organization that supports our nation’s communities by promoting effective communication through community use of media,” she said.
A graduate of the University of Iowa with a degree in communications, Stokstad has been an advocate for community media for more than 20 years and is highly regarded for her accomplishments in community media. A proponent of citizen journalism and utilizing new media tools as a compliment to community television, she has established several community media centers across the United States.
Stokstad was awarded the ACM’s Sue Buske Leadership Award in 2011 for providing a demonstrated commitment to the mission and goals of the ACM and for leadership within the organization.
“The ACM appreciates Keri’s commitment to advancing our organization throughout the years,” said Sylvia Strobel, the alliance’s executive director. “I look forward to working with Keri and the ACM Board as we implement our ambitious agenda, including our upcoming Youth Media Summit this winter and the 2013 ACM Annual Conference in San Francisco in the spring.”
