Suit Against Maryland Speed Cams Tossed

A Bowie lawyer argued that the system violated Maryland law.

A class-action lawsuit against speed cameras in Montgomery County and three Maryland cities is dead and gone. A state judge ruled Tuesdau against a Bowie (Md.) lawyer’s case that the pre-ticket payment to camera operators was illegal.

But the trial, set to begin July 12, won’t happen; he said the jurisdictions, not the camera company, operate the cameras and granted a dismissal to Montgomery Coutny and the citied of Rockville, Chevy Chase Village and Gaithersburg.
