About 150 companies attended the 15th Annual Government Video Expo in Washington Nov. 27–29.
Many of those companies showcased cutting-edge products that push the envelope on audiovisual production. After countless viewing and discussions, the staff of Government Video selected 10 products that stood out. Those are the winners of the 2012 SALUTE award. In alphabetical order are the companies, and their winning products, they are:

Colbalt Digital Inc. BlueBox
The BlueBox is an interface converter box that provides for a neater, more physically secure and dependable installation than with other interface boxes. It powers directly from host equipment USB jack so no need for delicate and bulky “wall wart” power supplies or connections and it provides stereo analog audio input embedding to embedded audio pair on SDI output.

A key component to Evertz EFX video wall solution is the 9700DVT-18×18 Digital Video Tiler. The 9700DVT-18×18 accepts up to 18 live real time video inputs and the ability to drive up to 18 displays inside a single 1RU package.
GeoVision IP Camera System
The GV-FE110 and GV-FE111 are fisheye cameras that enable users to monitor all angles of a location using just one camera. Without installing any software, users can watch live or utilize motion detection, privacy mask and alert notification functions through the Web interface using an IE browser.

From left, Adam Little, IO Industries’ senior sales engineer, is congratulated by NewBay’s Paul McLane. The Flare 2KSDI is a compact, rugged one-piece HD camera for broadcast and cinema applications. It has a supersensitive CMOS sensor and a variety of HD/3G-SDI output formats and a handheld, remote control is available.
Litepanels Luma Light
The Luma on-camera, daylight LED fixture provides on-the-go shooters with a soft, yet high-illumination fill light, in a powerful 50 degree spread. In addition, the Luma provides visually accurate color temperatures, flicker-free output at any frame rate or shutter angle and no color shift when dimming.
Panasonic AW-HE60SN/SE Camera
The AW-HE60SN/SE is a full-HD integrated pan, tilt HD/SD camera capable of IP image monitoring. It provides a full-HD MOS sensor and 18x optical zoom lens. It offers infrared night mode and simplifies a connection through IP; both camera control and video streaming are supported.

The C58 Digital Media System is a comprehensive package for digital media distribution supporting live event recording and unhampered on-demand playback of pre-recorded high definition video and audio content. A software management package from VIQ Solutions provides IP audio and video management.

The R-88 provides seamless integration of a recorder, mixer and a multi-channel audio interface. With eight discrete channels of audio recording plus a stereo mix, the R-88 is ideal for demanding multichannel applications such as location sound design, event production, event videography and live musical performance.
Rose Electronics UltraVista Plus
The UltraVista SX is designed to display high-definition images and video over a 2×2 video wall. The display is shown in real time with 25 percent of the input image shown on each of four video graphics array or digital visual interface screens. It supports resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 single-link digital video input and up to 1920 x 1200 digital or analog video outputs. For VGA analog monitor connections a DVI to VGA adapter must be used.
