Spike Lee Talks Obama, the End of Mookie's Brooklyn and the Hollywood Color Line

In an extensive interview with Vulture, director Spike Lee digs deep and gets frank about everything from his beloved Knicks, to childhood obesity, to his long and varied film career. He says, "Fun is not for me determined by whether it is an independent film or Hollywood. From the very beginning I have done both. I am a hybrid. I do independent films and also do Hollywood films—I love them both. But I knew the Hollywood studios were not going to make [Red Hook Summer]. And that is not an indictment of them, it is just a fact."
