MTV Purchases mokey for TV Spots

Imagineer Systems announced that MTV On-Air Promos has recently purchased mokey version 3. The new software was used immediately in the development of an advert for AMP, an energy drink by Mountain Dew, which is about to air in the US. The purchase enabled MTV to overcome problems it had when trying to key musicians out of shots taken from a variety of locations and place them on the same stage.

Tight deadlines meant that traditional rotoscoping methods were not an option, hence MTV’s decision to use mokey, Imagineer System’s software tool for 2D tracking, wire & rig removal, motion keying, stabilization and grain management. MTV chose to work with mokey having followed its progress. With the release of version 3, MTV decided to integrate it into its existing toolset.

Since the debut of version 3 at this year’s NAB, mokey has seen significant growth within the American market. It has recently been used on numerous projects including "Charlie’s Angels II," "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" and "Spiderman II."
