Gus Van Sant on Photography, Inspiration and 'Good Will Hunting'
Director Gus Van Sant talks about how Good Will Hunting landed in his lap, why he feels all his films look alike, and his unintentional past as a photographer in an interview on The Talks.
He says, "You have to be quite strict in order to not lose your original vision. I’m always giving in to certain things. So a lot of times it’s like, 'Well, it’s going to take too long, so let’s just do it the way we normally do it.' Which is strange because you always want it to be different. So pretty much all my films look alike. They’re not super different. But mostly because we keep giving in and just going for the characters."
